CONGRATULATIONS

WE CONGRATULATE SHAPE ALASKA'S TEACHERS OF THE YEAR FOR 2016-2017

Superintendents, principals, parents, and colleagues from all around Alaska rushed forth to nominate the outstanding health and physical educators teaching in the gymnasiums, classrooms and playing fields around our state! Thirty-four outstanding educators were recognized for their commitment to excellence, their leadership and their connections with students and families. 

We are proud to announce this year's honorees for the statewide honor:

  • Bridie Hunt, from Creekside Park Elementary (Anchorage) is Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year! (no photo available)
  • Allegra Butler, from Colony Middle School (Mat-Su) is Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year!
  • Karen Bronga, from Scenic Park and Kasuun Elementaries (Anchorage) is Elementary Health Education Teacher of the Year!
  • Shasta Smith, from Sitka High School is High School Health Education Teacher of the Year!
