Artie Kamiya will be our keynote speaker. Many of you will recognize the name from the Great Activities Newspaper. Here's a little more about Artie:
Artie was formerly a Section Chief for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, responsible for directing the state’s K-12 health and physical education programs. He is the author/editor of over 20 different publications, including the Great Activities Newspaper, the Elementary Teachers Handbook of Indoor and Outdoor Games, Academic Activities for Gifted and Motivated Elementary Students, and the Gym Dandies Series. Artie has presented over 200 workshops in 37 different states. He is also the recipient of two Carol M. White PEP Grants ($493,000 in 2003 and $1.3 million in 2004) and was recognized as the 2004 National Physical Education Administrator of the Year. He recently Founded the National PE Institute.

University of Alaska credit for conference
This will be multiple step process and is separate from registering for the SHAPE Alaska conference.
Step one: Register for the SHAPE Alaska conference (click here for the link-available asap)
Step two: Look at the course syllabus (available asap) for requirements. You will have to register for the credit at UAA, cost $195. If you do not have a UAA student ID, call the HPER office manager, Chrissy Wilson, at 786-4085 or contact her through email at firstname.lastname@example.org for help with registration.
Step three: Print off the signature form required to be completed at the conference. These forms will only be available on-line; no hard copies will be available at the conference.
Step four: Complete any forms required by your district, such as MLP, to make sure the credit will be accepted by your district.
